Recreate the Look: Zooey Deschanel
Can I just say...I FRIGGING LOVE NEW GIRL!!
Jess (Zooey's character) has the biggest doe eyes ever! Even if you have smaller set eyes, here are some tips to recreate her makeup style:
Prep
Cleanse
Tone
Moisturize
Base
Primer (for oily skin)
Foundation (Try to get it a shade lighter)
Concealer
Powder (if necessary)
Eyes
Prime your eye lids
A glittery sandy beige eye shadow colour (Wet n' Wild has some great ones in their palettes!) Apply the eye shadow on your lower lashline and your eyelid
Note: If you have smaller eyes, use a white eyeliner on your waterline to open them up!
Black Eye liner
A Voluminous Mascara (Maybelline's colossal volume is my go to mascara). Use it on your upper and lower lashes
Thick false lashes (Ardell's glamour lashes in 203 or 205 would be ideal!)
Cheeks
Zooey typically uses a Barbie pink or orange blush. Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush in Fresh Pink is ideal!
An illuminator. A great illuminator is Maybelline's Magic Lumi Pen. Use this on your upper cheek bone.
Lips
Zooey is known for her "modern pin-up" style look. She accomplishes this look by using reds and fuschias. Funtime Fuschia by Rimmel London is great!!
Hope you guys have fun recreating this look.

Recreate the Look: Kourtney Kardashian
Kourtney Kardashian is by far my favorite Kardashian. Here is what you need to recreate one of her key looks:
Prep:
Cleanse, tone and moisturize your face
Spray sunscreen
Base
Primer (if necessary)
Foundation.
Concealer
Setting Powder (if necessary)
Eyes
A light beige eye shadow. Fair skinned girls should wear a colour like Brule, where as girls with darker complexions should opt to use Malt from Mac. NYX in Nude is a pretty close dupe! To recreate her look sweep the eye shadow on your eyelid.
Black Liner. Apply a thick line on your upper eyelid. Do not wing it out.
Nude Liner. Rimmel Scandaleyes has a good nude liner. If you are willing to splurge, Mac has nude liners which match various skin types. Use the nude liner on your waterline.
A white eye shadow. Place the white eye shadow in your inner corners.
False Eyelashes. If you are on a budget, Elf has fairly decent lashes, but I highly suggest Ardell Lashes. Remember to purchase lengthening lashes like Ardell lashes in 123.
A lengthening Mascara. L'Oreal Telescopic is great for this! Use mascara on your upper and lower lashes.
Brows
Fill in your brows. I personally prefer using a dark brown matte eyeshadow, but choose what ever works best for you
Cheeks
An illuminator. Maybelline's Magic Lumi pen works wonders for this purpose. Use the illuminator under your eyes, and on your cheek bones.
Blush. The blush you choose depends on your skin tone. To best replicate Kourtney's look, use a blush like Milani's baked blush in Rode D'Oro. Baked Blushes will work best, because they create the effect of luminosity.
Bronzer. Rimmel makes a great mineral bronzer. Use the bronzer to contour your face
Lips
Revlon's Fire and Ice or any matte red lipstick

Makeup Starter Kit Tips!
The beauty guru pandemic has swept the world's of most teenagers and college students. I personally, can not think of a single friend of mine who hasn't stumbled upon the videos of a beauty guru. Students who are beginning to enter the makeup world often rely on Makeup Starter Kit videos, and $20 dollar makeup challenges to help kick start their own collections.
Here is my makeup starter kit tips:
-If you are on a budget, DO NOT buy everything at once! Take a look at your local drugstores flyers, and look for the products which are on sale for the week.
-For all eye and lip products, google swatches!
-For foundations, be prepared to splurge. In my personal experience, it is a lot better to visit a store like Sephora, and get matched to a foundation which matches your natural skin tone and type, then walk aimlessly in a drugstore.
What your kit should include:
-a GOOD foundation. All other makeup products can be average in quality, but a poorly matched and splotchy foundation can ruin any makeup look....believe me!! I swear by Tarte's Amazonian clay foundation, but figure out what formulation works best for you!
-Concealer. Sleeping less than the recommended 8 hours a day is natural for most students. Concealer is a necessity to fake the look of beauty sleep. On particularly bad days, I use Revlon's Photoready concealer.
-A pencil liner. If you can only afford one liner in your kit, buy pencil. A pencil liner are easier to control, can be smudged. If you have fair-light skin, I recommend a dark brown/espresso coloured liner. A black liner should do well for anyone with a tanned complexion. My favorite is Rimmel Exaggerate, because I don't need to sharpen the pencil.
-Eye shadow Palette. Wet n' Wild makes a great palette. I personally travel with my CoverGirl Palette in Country Woods.
-A mascara. From personal experience, L'Oreal and Maybelline produce the most consistent mascaras. I have thin, yet long lashes, so Maybelline Colossal Volume Mascara works wonders for me. However, my friends who have thick lashes often opt to use L'Oreal telescopic because of its lengthening abilities!
-1 Blush. Maybelline, NYX CoverGirl and Elf all produce great blushes for the money. If you have naturally oily skin, I recommend choosing a blush with less glitter.
-lipstick or a lip gloss. This is truly personal preference. I personally never liked the look of gloss on my lips, so lipstick is my modus operandi. By far, the most consistent drugstore brand with lipsticks is Revlon. My go to lipstick is Revlon Temptress. Canadian girls, Shoppers Drug Mart has sales every 2 months or so, where these lipsticks are sold for less than 5 dollars...what a steal! My favorite drugstore lip gloss brand is NYX.
Setting Powder-If you have combination/oily skin, invest in either a good blotting paper, or purchase a product like NYC translucent face powder, which sells for around 3 dollars at Wal-Mart, or Rimmel's stay matte powder.
Brushes:
The only brush which I feel is a staple to my daily makeup regiment is my Real Techniques Buffing Brush, I use this product to apply face powder and blush.

REVIEW: Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 hour FULL COVERAGE foundation
As a college student, I often find myself in a constant budget dilemma. I adore beauty products, but I don't have the constant funds to support my impulsive lifestyle. During my high school days, I found myself buying tons of high end beauty products. As I became more independent, I had to substitute some of those high end loves. I searched for three years for a product which was comparable to my tarte Amazonian clay 12 hour foundation, but nothing came close.
PROS
-LONG lasting. As an oily skinned girl, a long lasting foundation is a must! Even without a primer, this foundation can remain on my skin for a full 8 hour day!
-Doubles up as a concealer. On days where my skin is bad, I can add more foundation to my problem areas, eliminating the need for a concealer.
-Formulated without Parabens, Sulfates and other potentially harmful chemicals
-DOES NOT BREAK ME OUT!!!
-One tube lasts a LONG time. One tube lasts me 6 months.
-has spf 15.
CONS
-Limited colour selection. My local Sephora only sells 8 shades.
-Fairly Pricey. Sephora charges $49 CDN for 1.7oz (or $38 USD)
HOW TO MULTITASK THIS PRODUCT
The formulation of tarte Amazonian Clay foundation is amazing! I can easily turn this into a medium coverage foundation by mixing it with facial moisturizer (I use Olay Complete All Day Moisture Lotion SPF 15). On days where I choose to wear eye shadow, I can also get away with using this as an eye primer!
HOW CAN THIS PRODUCT BE INCORPORATED INTO A COLLEGE BUDGET?
Based on personal experience, I give myself a budget of 300dollars a month for groceries, social outings and luxuries. I find myself repurchasing this product once a year, because I opt against using foundation over the summer. Despite the amazing staying power of this product, sweat and foundation are a combination which never appealed to me...

Left: The formulation of tarte's foundation is very thick. When I first tried it on in the store, I thought that it wouldn't be blendable, and would appear cakey on my skin...safe to say I WAS WRONG |
